Alla Whitston

Chief Information Officer for the Americas

Alla Whitston serves as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Americas, leading the region’s information technology strategy and operations. As Head of Information Technology for the Americas, she oversees core technology functions including applications, infrastructure, enterprise architecture, modernization, IT governance, and our advancing AI initiatives. Ms. Whitston also has responsibility for Enterprise Information Security, Program Management, and Technology Risk Management, and leads Technology and Information Security for Latin America. 

She previously served as the CIO for Silicon Valley Bank’s Global Commercial Bank and Capital divisions. In this role, Ms. Whitston led a team responsible for all technology platforms across a diverse range of businesses, including such areas as Digital Banking, Credit Onboarding, Lending, and Trade Finance.

Previously, she served as the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President for CIT Group, where she was responsible for technology strategy and architecture, application development, infrastructure, end-user services, enterprise data, business intelligence and digital automation, and user and client experience. Ms. Whitston has also held technology leadership roles at Bank of America, JP Morgan Investment Banking/Bear Stearns, and Goldman Sachs & Co. She has been actively engaged in women’s professional networks throughout her career and is an Inclusion champion.

Ms. Whitston received recognition as the winner of the prestigious 2024 New York ORBIE® Global CIO Award for her exceptional leadership and innovation in the field of technology. As a seasoned CIO, she has been a driving force in MUFG’s technological advancement, earning her a well-deserved spot among other top technology leaders. Recently, Ms. Whitston was named one of the world’s top 100 CIOs by a UK-based global leadership platform, recognizing her strategic leadership and the strength of MUFG’s technology vision.
