Matt Abrusci

General Counsel

Matt Abrusci serves as General Counsel for MUFG Americas. He is responsible for the overall management of legal affairs and board processes related to MUFG’s combined operations in the Americas. As General Counsel, he helps MUFG Americas navigate the increasingly complex and demanding banking regulatory landscape by continuing to build effective relationships and credibility with key regulators.
 
Matt has worked more than 30 years in the legal profession and is an experienced global team leader. Previously, Matt served as the Global Head of the Capital Markets Law Group of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Prior to this role, he served as the Head of Americas for RBC’s Capital Markets Law Group, responsible for legal coverage of Capital Markets’ Corporate Investment Banking and Global Markets businesses. 

Earlier in his career, he held a variety of legal leadership positions for Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, including as General Counsel for the Americas Investment Banking & Capital Markets Law Group, and for Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc.
 
Matt received a B.A. in History from St. John’s University and a J.D. from the St. John’s School of Law. He has previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Association.
