Monique Morreale
Interim General Counsel for the Americas
Monique Morreale is the Interim General Counsel and is responsible for the overall management of legal affairs and board processes related to MUFG’s combined operations in the Americas. She serves as a member and advisor to MUFG’s Executive Committee for the Americas, inclusive of the CEO and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for MUFG Americas Holdings Corporation, as well as the Chief Legal Office and other executive management in Tokyo.
Monique has more than 25 years in the legal profession. Since joining MUFG in 2002, her role as primary bankruptcy/workout counsel has evolved and expanded, with leadership in key areas and experience that spans across diverse business lines, geographic regions, and legal disciplines. She also oversaw the creation of legal operations within the firm.
Prior to joining MUFG, Monique was an associate in the Business Finance & Restructuring department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, advising on major bankruptcy cases. She began her career as a law clerk to the Honorable Alan Shiff, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Connecticut.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Finance from The Ohio State University and a law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. She was Editor-in-Chief of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and is the recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence.
